We always have to make choices between our professional and personal affairs as to which one receives the bulk of our attention. We constantly struggle with the balancing act of finding enough time to get everything we need accomplished while making time for life’s intimate moments with others. We ask ourselves questions as to if we are making the correct choice when we don’t attend a dinner, go to a celebration, or spend endless moments chatting or texting with a potential companion for the sake of completing a professional task that we believe will take our careers to the new heights.
The sacrifice of self satisfaction seems acceptable when it comes to professional growth, getting money, networking, and making moves. We put off love because the timing is not what we scheduled. We have been so meticulous in planning each and every facet of our lives until the point that the spontaneity of life cannot occur in its natural flow.
Can I get personal with you all for a moment?
Throughout my younger years life was about having fun and finding the person of my dreams to build a life. However, what I didn’t realize is that I was making it difficult for anyone to come into my world because I wanted to advance my empire while indulging in each other simultaneously.  I desired for the man and I to get together, make money together, and develop a deep passion with  each other at the same time.
How idealistic was this thinking? Or is it?
In our world, we have to recognize that sacrifice is going to have to take place in order for us to get what we want in life.
Many times we meet a person and spell out what we expect, what we need, and how we want everything to play out in the relationship. We approach each other with a verbal contract stating our demands and what we are willing to give with the expectation that both parties are in agreement and it will be a match. The reality however, is that we are all individuals who cannot determine what another will be or is bringing to the table. We have to be flexible in our desires. We have to be willing to accept what another person wants and to discover the beauty that can arise from being in the moment with them. We have to learn to let go of controlling our interactions with another like we do our business so that we are open to the real experience of love and fulfillment with another person.
Yes, a relationship is like a business in the sense that we have goals, expectations, and desired outcomes as a result of what we put in and bring to the relationship. As we explore one another we learn that emotions are an aspect that develops within itself regardless of the limitations we have set forth. This is the beauty and nightmare of love. We have to let the fear of the unknown go so that we can flourish in a relationship or we have to decide to focus on ourselves and let our professions be our mates.
So what is your decision?
Share your thoughts and let’s build so that we can build?
RESPECT!!!!!!!!!!!!!
