President Obama gives clemency to Ramona Brant after 21 years in Prison

I whelp like a baby when I saw this video, the moment Ramona Brant ran out of the prison doors and into her families arms made me cry from my heart. Imagine being in a abusive relationship that lead’s you in a direction that you should of never been in the first place. Feeling scared and trapped and making decision because you are afraid for your life and it lands  you in prison for the rest of your  life. I’m going to tell you the truth , I don’t want to ever imagine something like that, but it happen’s and the cold fact is it could happen to anyone one of us.

It was reported in the social media that Ramona Brant was being coerced by her abusive boyfriend who was said to be a drug dealer and the Judge gave her life.  My mouth dropped when I read that, Ramona who was release this February , spend 21 years behind bars away from her family and friends. Ramona missed out on things that most people take for granted, like birthday’s , Holidays, BBQ’s, family functions and more.  Ramona mention’s in this video that she didn’t even believe it was true when she was being released, Ramona mention that she was waiting for the guards to call her back.

It was a blessing that President Obama gave clemency to Ramona Brant and to all the other prisoners who deserved it. Although I am sadden to know that we have folks in the system that are being sentence unfairly but it’s a wonderful thing when folks who can make a different’s work to make a change.
